x3 Promotional Responces: Neil Armstrong

As the death of Neil Armstrong is still fresh and still in the public eye, I felt that after generating some possible paths i decided that it was a choice between, NASA's Anniversary or The death of Neil Armstrong. As the subject is so specific i feel that this is something i can develop.

Further research:
Neil Alden Armstrong was born in 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. From age six, he was interested in flying. When he was fifteen, he took flying lessons, earning the money for the lessons himself. Neil received his pilot's license before he got his driver's license. At nineteen, he enlisted in the Navy. In the Korean War, he flew seventy-eight combat missions and eluded death twice. After the war, Neil graduated from Purdue with a bachelor's in Aeronautical Engineering. Later he received a master's in Aerospace Engineering. Neil Armstrong became a test pilot for NASA. He was the command pilot of Gemini 8 in 1966. Neil Armstrong, "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins were chosen to fly Apollo 11 to the moon. Neil Armstrong had the privilege of being the first human ever to set foot on another world. A plaque was placed on the moon, reading, "We came in peace for all of mankind." While Michael Collins stayed in the spacecraft, Buzz and Neil played on and collected samples of the moon's surface. The event was televised and many pictures of the Earth and the moon's landscape were taken. After the three astronauts came home, there were great celebrations all over the world. Neil Armstrong received the Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Space Medal of Honor, the NASA Distinguished Service Award, the NASA Exceptional Service Award, and seventeen other medals from countries around the word.

US astronaut Neil Armstrong dies, first man on Moon:

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon, has died aged 82.
A statement from his family says he died from complications from heart surgery he had earlier this month.
He set foot on the Moon on 20 July 1969, famously describing the event as "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind".
US President Barack Obama said Armstrong was "among the greatest of American heroes - not just of his time, but of all time".
Last November he received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest US civilian award.

He was the commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. More than 500 million TV viewers around the world watched its touchdown on the lunar surface.
Armstrong and fellow astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the moon, collecting samples, conducting experiments and taking photographs.
"The sights were simply magnificent, beyond any visual experience that I had ever been exposed to," Armstrong once said.
'Reluctant hero'
Mr Aldrin told the BBC's Newshour programme: "It's very sad indeed that we're not able to be together as a crew on the 50th anniversary of the mission… [I will remember him] as a very capable commander."
Apollo 11 was Armstrong's last space mission. In 1971, he left the US space agency Nasa to teach aerospace engineering.
Born in 1930 and raised in Ohio, Armstrong took his first flight aged six with his father and formed a lifelong passion for flying.
He flew Navy fighter jets during the Korean War in the 1950s, and joined the US space programme in 1962.
President Obama described him as "one of the greatest American heroes of all time"
Correspondents say Armstrong remained modest and never allowed himself to be caught up in the glamour of space exploration.
"I am, and ever will be, a white-socks, pocket-protector, nerdy engineer," he said in February 2000, in a rare public appearance.
In a statement, his family praised him as a "reluctant American hero" who had "served his nation proudly, as a navy fighter pilot, test pilot, and astronaut".
The statement did not say where Armstrong died.
He had surgery to relieve four blocked coronary arteries on 7 August

Image of generation of ideas

I have generated the idea of designing a set of promotional material for a remembrance event for Neil Armstrong i feel that this would be relevant as he has recently passed away the event will be held at the Nasa aerospace museum of California on the 20th of July the day he landed on the moon. I have decided that the products i am going to Create will be;

A large scale promotion: This will be in the form of a large scale print that would be situated in the town centre as a way of advertising the event, I have decided that i want this piece to use perspective so the design would just appear as a design printed on the floor, however there would be view point in which the image came together.

This idea was inspired by an australian designer named: he used perspective to create an illusion of a floating form, i aim to recreate this style for my design.

Innovative flyer: This would be handed out to a limited amount of people and would not only advertise the event but it would also be used as a pass into the event. As you can see to reflect the modern futuristic design i decided to use a modern material, the use of acrylic allowed me to experiment with laser cutting this is something i aimed to experiment with. I am not only very happy to have finally gained laser cutting skills but i feel the finish was very effective. However there where some problems that i will take into consideration next time:
Body text is to small, and "Neil armstrong should have been enlarged slightly.

I wanted the design to have a very modern space like appearance I decided that i would look at space related design to gain inspiration for the flyer design, i wanted the design to look modern but i felt the design needed to feel modern too, i decided that the flyer would be laser cut into acrylic this modern material would give the viewer a real futuristic feel.

Inspirational material:

Innovative Poster design: The poster design will just be used to draw attention to the event, the poster design would obviously have to display the man himself. I have decided to go with a grayscale image with a multiplied design layered ontop. The designs main focus is going to be minimalist,
